UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Penn State women's tennis team is set to host two home matches at the Penn State Indoor Center this weekend. The Nittany Lions welcome in the No. 43 Columbia Lions Friday with first serve set for 4:30 p.m. This marks the third time in four matches that the blue and white will be going up against a ranked opponent. Penn State concludes the quick home stand Sunday against the VCU Rams at 11:00 a.m. Live scoring can be found on the link attached above.
Columbia (3-3) enters Friday winners of three of their last four, including a 5-2 victory over fellow Big Ten foe Maryland. All three of the Lions losses have come at the hands of ranked opponents, including two teams ranked in the Top 30. VCU enters the weekend with a 6-3 record, but have dropped their last two matches. These two teams met last year, with VCU coming away with the 6-1 victory.
The No. 34 ranked doubles pairing of Victoria Kisialeva (Toronto, Canada) and Dasha Sapogova (Belarus, Minsk) continued their success after defeating Northwestern's 50th ranked doubles team of Brooke Rischbieth and Alicia Barnett 8-6. The duo now moves their spring record to 5-1, including three straight wins.
Looking forward, Penn State travels to Huntington, West Virginia for two non-conference matches against Marshall and Utah next weekend.
