UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (AP) - From the get-go, the No. 13 Penn State women's gymnastics squad distanced themselves from the field to claim their quad meet with a team score of 196.650. The Nittany Lions kept the Rec Hall faithful on its feet from the start as they topped a field that featured Iowa State (195.375), Penn (191.925) and Brockport (190.750) on Senior Day.

The senior class closed out their home careers with some solid performances, including a trio of event titles and the all-around crown. Krystal Welsh (Bowie, Md.) claimed the all-around crown with a season-best score of 39.400, tied for the top spot on the vault at 9.925 and won the floor exercise at 9.875. Sidney Sanabria-Robles (Caguas, Puerto Rico) claimed the balance beam crown with a 9.900, while Alex Witt (Odesa, Fla.) placed second on the uneven bars at 9.800. Lexi Carroll (Olney, Md.) was the final performer of the night and scored 9.775 in an exhibition performance on the floor exercise.

Welsh, who earned the Ann Carr Award following the meet, posted her second highest score of the season on the vault to open the meet. Her 9.925 tied with Emma Sibson (Allen, Texas) for the top spot on the event. She scored 9.750 on the uneven bars and followed that with a 9.850 on the balance beam. Welsh closed her final meet inside of Rec Hall with an event-winning performance on the floor exercise, posting a 9.875 to win the event. She finished the meet with an all-around score of 39.400 to claim her first career all-around win.

A misstep on the uneven bars was the only blemish for Sanabria-Robles on the afternoon, as she finished tied for second in the all-around at 39.300. Her 9.900 on the vault tied for third on the event and she scored 9.650 on the uneven bars during the next rotation. The senior shrugged off her uneven bars performance to post an event-winning score of 9.900 on the balance beam. Sanabria-Robles then closed her Rec Hall career with a 9.850 to tie for second overall on the floor exercise.

Freshman Briannah Tsang (Vancouver, British Columbia) tied with Sanabria-Robles for second in the all-around with a mark of 39.300. Tsang posted a pair of runner-up finishes, one fifth place showing and an 11th place effort. Her first performance of the evening was a 9.800 on the vault to finish 11th on the apparatus. She then took fifth on the uneven bars (9.775) before posting second place finishes on each of the last two events. A 9.875 on the balance beam tied her with Iowa State's Caitlin Brown for runner-up and a 9.850 on the floor exercise knotted her with Sanabria-Robles for second billing.

Penn State opened the meet with by scoring 49.450 on the vault to tie for the seventh highest total in program history on the event. A trio of Penn Stater's topped the 9.900 mark on the event, including a pair of event-winning 9.925 vaults from Sibson and Welsh. Sanabria-Robles tied her career-best score on the event with a 9.900, equaling her total from earlier this season at Nebraska, to tie for third overall. Brockport scored 48.725 on the floor exercise, Iowa State posted a 48.425 on the uneven bars and Penn logged a 48.275 on the balance beam during the first rotation.

On their lowest scoring event of the afternoon, Penn State still posted the highest score of the meet on the uneven bars at 48.775. Witt posted the Nittany Lions' top score at 9.800 to finish in a tie for second overall. Lauren Li (Plano, Texas) also notched a 9.800 on the event to equal Witt's second place finish. Tsang went 9.775 on the uneven bars to finish fifth and five Penn State three of the top five scores on the event. Brockport posted a 47.400 on the vault, Iowa State went 48.825 on the balance beam and Penn collected a 47.800 on the floor exercise in the second rotation.

A season-best 49.250 team score on the beam kept the momentum in Penn State's favor. Sanabria-Robles finished off the rotation with a 9.900 performance to claim the even title. Tsang's 9.875 tied for second on the event and Welsh's 9.650 gave the home team three of the top four performers on the event. The third rotation saw Brockport post a 46.675 on the uneven bars, Iowa State go 48.850 on the floor exercise and Penn notch a 47.625 on the vault.

The final event of the evening had the crowd on their feet as the Lions placed five gymnasts among the top six performers on the apparatus. Like Sanabria-Robles on the balance beam, Welsh capped her home career with an event-winning score of 9.875. Tsang and Sanabria-Robles tied for second at 9.850, while Oni Timothy (Rochester, N.Y.) and Sibson each scored 9.800 to tie for fourth with Iowa State's Hilary Green. Brockport posted a 48.400 on the balance beam, Iowa State scored 49.275on the vault and Penn collected a 48.225 on the uneven bars in the final rotation.

The Nittany Lions will close out the regular season with a pair of road meets, starting on Sunday, March 8 at West Virginia. The Nittany Lions and Mountaineers will meet at 2 p.m. in Morgantown, W.Va. The Blue and White then heads to Minneapolis for the B1G Five Meet with host Minnesota, along with Iowa, Michigan and Rutgers.
