MINNEAPOLIS - Junior Alexis Torres (Catano, Puerto Rico) has been named the College Gymnastics Association (CGA) Gymnast of the Week, as announced by the CGA office Thursday morning. This is second career award for Torres. Earlier this week he was named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week for his performance at Nebraska.

Over the weekend, Torres and the Nittany Lions finished second in a four team meet against Iowa, Minnesota and Nebraska. As a team, Penn State finished second with a team score of 432.100.

Individually, Torres tallied five top-five finishes including his first place finishes on the still rings and the high bar. On the still rings, Torres posted a score of 15.900 and on the high bar he recorded a career-best score of 15.200. He also finished first in the all-around with a score of 89.500.

Two weeks ago, Torres picked up his first CGA Gymnast of the Week award.

The Nittany Lions do not compete this weekend as they prepare for the Big Ten Championships. Penn State will host the Big Ten meet inside Rec Hall March 27-28.
