WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Penn State men's golf team carded a 292 in round one of the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate Sunday to place the team tied for ninth in a 29-team field.
Junior JD Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) fired a 71 on the River Course at the Kingsmill Resort and will enter day two tied for 15th. A stroke behind Dornes is senior Jens Talbert (Little Rock, Ark.), who posted a 72 and sits tied for 25th.
Freshman Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.) tallied a 74 on the day while sophomore Christian Elliott (Port Perry, Ontario), coming off a Big Ten Golfer of the Week honor, shot a 75. Sophomore Cody Cox (Mildford, Pa.) rounded out the Nittany Lion roster with an 81 on the first 18 holes of play.
Radford and Loyola University (Maryland) are currently tied for first with team scores of 283.
