UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; March 23, 2015 - Penn State men's lacrosse associate head coach Peter Toner has been named an assistant coach for the 2016 U.S. Men's National Under-19 team, U.S. Lacrosse announced.

The team will seek its eight consecutive world title at the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championship, held in Coquitlam, British Columbia in July 2016. The U-19 team maintains a 41-2 in international play, and is the only team to win gold at the U-19 World Championship.

Toner will work under the team's head coach Nick Myers, who currently serves at the helm of Ohio State's men's lacrosse program. Pat Myers, an assistant coach at Penn, and Chuck Ruebling, the head coach at New Jersey's Delbarton School, round out the coaching staff.

The Nittany Lions' defensive coordinator, Toner has led Penn State to a top-16 ranking in scoring defense each of his four seasons in Happy Valley. The Blue and White currently sit third in the Big Ten with 10 goals allowed per game.

With the announcement, Penn State's three coaches have all served on the coaching staffs of a national team. Head coach Jeff Tambroni was an assistant for the 2014 U.S. men's senior team, and assistant coach Chris Doctor served in the same capacity for the Iroquois Nationals at the 2014 FIL World Championship.
