200 Free Relay Results/400 Medley Relay Results

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Penn State men's swimming and diving team competed in two relay events during the first day of competition at the 2015 NCAA Championships. Head coach Tim Murphy's squad swam in both the 200 free and 400 medley relay's during day one of the three day event.

PSU finished 20th overall in the 200 free relay with a 1:19.15 time during the morning's preliminary session. That relay squad was comprised of Shane Ryan (Havertown, Pa.), Nate Savoy (Reading, Pa.), Matt Grillo (Montreal, Quebec) and Bob Bantley (Maple Glen, Pa.).

The Lions then placed 18th in the 400 medley relay with a 3:09.14 performance courtesy of Savoy, Andrew Schuehler (Camden, N.J.), Kyle Madley (Madison, N.J.) and Ryan during prelims.

Ryan also competed in the 50 free but unfortunately was one of three swimmers tagged with a DFS or declared false start in the event.

Two of the six swimmers competing at NCAA's Thursday were seniors as both Savoy and Madley began their final stretch of swims for the Blue and White during their respective collegiate careers.

Competition continues tomorrow with preliminaries scheduled for 12 p.m. and then the finals session to get underway at 8 p.m. on the campus of the University of Iowa.
