Savoy Closes out Career in All-American Fashion

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Penn State senior Nate Savoy (Reading, Pa.) concluded his Nittany Lion career Saturday, with a 10th place (1:40.50) performance in the 200 back at NCAA Championships. His performance scored his team seven points and earned him honorable mention All-America honors. 



Savoy swam to a 1:40.25 pace and ninth place finish in morning preliminaries which established a new career best time in the event and was just three tenths of a slower than the school record.



The well decorated swimmer had already earned honorable mention All-America in the 100 back on the championship's second day and now collects this title in the 200 back for the second time in his career.



Savoy had a busy Saturday, as he swam lead off on head coach Tim Murphy's 400 freestyle relay team which finished 17th during preliminaries with a 2:53.46 time. Following Savoy was Shane Ryan (Havertown, Pa.), Matt Grillo (Montreal, Quebec) and Bob Bantley (Maple Glen, Pa.).



The Lions finished the 2015 NCAA Championships with 27 total team points, which put them in 24th place.
