Penn State All-Sports Museum Concludes the Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Women in Sport with Final Panel Discussion

The Penn State All-Sports Museum's Ellen Perry Speaker Series will host a panel discussion highlighting the latter 25 years of Women in Sport at Penn State with a panel discussion featuring three former student-athletes.

Join us on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. for a conversation with Sarah (Haupt) Zucca, Rachel Hoffman, and Samantha (Tortorello) Ream as they reflect on their time as student-athletes.

Sarah (Haupt) Zucca ('06), 4-time Academic All American in swimming, was a 9-time Big Ten champion, 5-time Big Ten record holder, and 3-time PSU record holder. Zucca was part of two Big Ten championship teams in 2005 and 2006. She was the recipient of the NCAA postgraduate scholarship award, the Big Ten Medal of Honor, and the Earnest B McCoy Award. Zucca is currently a licensed professional counselor and certified addiction counselor working for a private practice in Pennsylvania.

Rachel Hoffman (`98), was a member of Penn State's first women's soccer team, scoring the team's first ever goal against JMU in 1994. Hoffman started all 89 games of her career at Penn State, finishing her career with 58 goals and 33 assists, the Big Ten's all-time leading point's scorer upon graduation, 3rd all-time leading point scorer to date. Hoffman went on to play for the New York Power, part of the first women's professional soccer league in the United States. She currently teaches 5th grade and is the head girls' soccer coach for Wyomissing Area High School in Wyomissing, PA.

Samantha (Tortorello) Ream ('06), was a member of the Nittany Lion volleyball squad that clinched the 2003, 2004, and 2005 Big Ten championships. She was named the 2002 Big Ten freshman of the year and 2005 Big Ten player of the year. She currently holds the career assist record in the Big Ten with 6,087 assists. Following graduation, Ream played on the USA women's volleyball national team in 2006. She currently serves as the Executive President of the Team Ream Foundation, a not-for-profit organization established to preserve the memory, grow the legacy, and carry on the fight, the will, and determination of Brandon Ream.

The panel discussion will be held at the Nittany Lion Inn in Board Room 1. The discussion with be moderated by Dr. Marie Hardin, Dean of the College of Communications. The event will begin at 11am, light breakfast refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the community.
