ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Penn State fell 10-2 at No. 3 Michigan on Sunday in the final game of the regular season at Alumni Field at the Wilpon Complex. The Nittany Lions scored two runs on a homer by Kristina Brackpool (Valencia, Calif.). The blue and white finished the regular season with a 28-27 overall mark and 9-14 in the Big Ten. The Wolverines improved to 48-6 overall and 21-2 in conference play.

The Nittany Lions earned the ninth seed and will face No. 8 seed Maryland in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in Columbus, Ohio. The complete Big Ten Tournament bracket can be found here.

The Nittany Lions finished the regular season with 28 wins, their most since 2011.

Penn State scored two runs in the fourth inning on Brackpool's home run to center. Junior Macy Jones (Ashburn, Va.) led off the inning by drawing a walk. With one out, Brackpool crushed a 3-2 pitch off the scoreboard in left field for her 10th of the year.

With that homer, Penn State now has three players with double-digit homers for the first time in program history. Freshman Alyssa VanDerveer (Hillsborough, N.J.) has 13, while Jones has 10.

The Wolverines got on the board in the bottom of the first with three runs in the inning. One run scored on Kelly Christner's single to right, while two scored on Lindsay Montemarano's single to left.

Michigan added three runs in the bottom of the second. Christner hit a sacrifice fly to left to plate the first run. Two more scored on Kelsey Susalla's single to the right-center field gap.

The Wolverines plated three more runs in the third inning, with the first coming on Taylor Swearingen's home run and two coming on a single to center by Lauren Sweet.

Michigan scored another run in the bottom of the fifth to win the game by mercy rule. Sierra Romero lined a one-out double to center and scored on a single by Christner.

Freshman Jessica Cummings (Owings, Md.) made her 19th start of the year for the Nittany Lions. Cummings pitched 1.2 innings, allowing six runs on five hits, while walking two.

Junior Christy Von Pusch (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) replaced Cummings, going one inning, allowing three runs on one hit and walking five.

Sophomore Marlaina Laubach (Northampton, Pa.) finished the game, pitching 1.2 innings, allowing three hits and a run while striking out two and walking one.
