UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The 2015 cross country season has officially started for the Penn State Nittany Lions. The team kicked off the season earlier this week with paperwork and introductions Tuesday night.
Wednesday morning, the team got their first run in as a group as they traveled to the Game Lands Loop followed by core exercises to complete the practice inside the Multi-Sport Facility.
"I'm excited to have day one in the books," said head coach John Gondak. "It was great to see both the men's and women's teams again after their summer of training. You can tell watching them this morning we have a group of student-athletes that put in the work this summer to move us toward our goal of having two teams at the NCAA championships. It was a fantastic first day of practice; I look forward to the rest of the week and continuing to work toward the beginning of the season in September."
Penn State is hosting two cross country meets this year, the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational on Friday, September 11 and the Penn State Open on Saturday, October 17.
