Lions Begin Fall Season At Away Tournaments

Ivy Plus Invitational / UVA Ranked Plus One Day 1

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Penn State men's tennis team started the fall season at the UVA Ranked Plus One Tournament today in Charlottesville, Va. The double-elimination tournament will continue through Sunday.

Senior Matt Barry (Lido Beach, N.Y.) easily took down Jonathan Cornish(UVA) with a 6-2, 6-2 win. Senior Aws Laaribi (Rye, N.Y.) was defeated by Henrik Wiersholm(UVA) in a close 7-6(3), 7-6(2) match. The doubles team of Barry and Laarib lost a tough 8-6 match against Wiersholm/Aragone(UVA). They went on to play Lomacki/Andrews resulting in an 8-6 loss for the Nittany Lions.

Other members of the team were competing at the Ivy Plus Invitational in Princeton, NJ. The results for the Ivy Plus Invitational were unavailable at time of press.
