Men's Soccer Dominant in Big Ten Regular Season

Sept. 24, 2015

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's soccer team has been a force in the Big Ten Conference the past four seasons and the 2015 campaign is no different.

Closing out the 2014 season, Penn State carried an 18-week streak of leading or being tied for first in the Big Ten during the regular season. During the last week of the season in 2014, Maryland slipped past the Nittany Lions to break the streak, but this season the Blue and White has picked up where it left off, leading the conference through the first two weeks of action.

The Nittany Lions worked their way into first-place in week five of 2012 when they beat Northwestern, Oct. 21. Following that win, Penn State led the Big Ten Conference for 18-straight weeks. Furthermore, the Blue and White has been in first or tied for first for 21 weeks out of a total 23 weeks since 2012, while Northwestern is in second at six weeks of being in first or tied for first.

Penn State is set to take on Michigan, who is currently tied for first in the conference with the Nittany Lions Sunday, Sept. 27 at Jeffrey Field. The match is set to start at 2 p.m. and will honor student assistant coach Brett Gravatt and all Ability Athletes.
