BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. - The 11th-ranked Penn State men's golf team captured its second-consecutive tournament victory by finishing 10 strokes in front of the rest of the 14-team field Tuesday at the Mountaineer Intercollegiate, hosted by West Virginia at the Pete Dye Golf Course.

All five Nittany Lion golfers finished among the Top 25, led by Cole Miller (5th), Geoff Vartelas (6th) and Charles Huntzinger (T10th) all in the Top 10. Individually, each member of the PSU contingent improved or stayed even with their day one score and moved up in the rankings at least two spots between days.

"We are proud to win this inaugural event on such a great golf course," Greg Nye, PSU head coach said. "It was a battle against Pete Dye the architect the last two days. The guys stayed composed, played within themselves and got it done down the stretch."

Miller, a native of New Tripoli, Pennsylvania, finished the day 1-under after producing birdies on two of his holes in the back nine. He was 1-under for the tournament, moving up two spots in the standings to finish fifth and stand as one of just five golfers to come in below par.

Vartelas (Cromwell, Conn.) was two strokes off his teammate, finishing the tournament 1-over and with a day two effort of 72. Rounding out the Top 10, Huntzinger (Duluth, Ga.) was 2-over in each round to finish 4-over and in a five-way tie for 10th place.

JD Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) moved up eight spots between day one and two, carding a 74 in the second round to finish at 5-over in a three-way tie for the No. 15 spot. Chris Houston (Gilford, N.H.) rounds out the Penn State group with a 7-over effort for the tournament. He earned a one-stroke improvement in his second round, finishing the day with a 3-over effort to move up five spots on the final leaderboard.

Connecticut (+19) finished second, 10 strokes behind the Nittany Lions, followed by Mississippi State (+20), Towson (+22) and Missouri (+23) for the first five of 14 teams.

Individually, Cincinnati's Davis Baxter was the individual winner, carding a 5-under. He was followed by Brett Rinker (Bowling Green/-4), Ben Wood (Mississippi State/-3) and Clark Robinson (Marshall/-3) before Miller completed the event's top-five finishers.

The PSU fall season ends with top-five finishes in all four tournaments, including back-to-back wins to close out the slate. The Nittany Lions also won the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate Oct. 9-11 with the same five golfers. Penn State will return to action in February with Big Ten Match Play at the Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Fla.
