ROSEMONT, Ill. - Marissa Sheva (Sellersville, Pa.) has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. This is the first Big Ten award for Sheva.
Last Saturday, the Nittany Lions defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes, 2-1, in Columbus, Ohio. In the match, Sheva tallied the game-winning goal on her lone shot attempt in the 39th minute. After a giveaway near midfield, Sheva found the back of the net from 15 yards out.
On the year, Sheva has tallied 16 shots, three goals and one assist.
The Nittany Lions return to action tomorrow at 7 p.m., in the regular season finale at home against the Michigan Wolverines.
