WENTZVILLE, Mo. -The Penn State women's hockey team played to a 1-1 tie against Lindenwood Saturday night at the Lindenwood Ice Arena. In her 100th game as a Nittany Lion, Micayla Catanzariti (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) scored her sixth career goal to tie the game in the third period.

Lindenwood (3-4-1, 1-0-1) struck first midway through the first period when Britannia Gillanders found the back of net with less than 10 minutes to play in the first period.

After out-shooting Penn State (3-6-1, 0-1-1), 10-6, in the opening period of play, Lindenwood went into the first intermission with the 1-0 lead.

During the second period, both goalies kept the opposing offenses in check, as neither team found the back of the net. Both teams went 0-for-1 on the power play in the second period. Penn State recorded 13 shot attempts in the second stanza compared to six shot attempts by Lindenwood.

Around the four-minute mark of the third period, Emily Laurenzi (Townsend, Del.), near the blue line, found Catanzariti. With the puck, Catanzariti evaded two Lions and beat the Nicole Hensley for her first goal of the season.

Looking for the game-winner in overtime, Lindenwood tallied eight shots in the extra five minute of play compared to one shot attempt by Penn State.

Neither team was able to score with the man-advantage on the night, as Penn State went 0-for-2 on the power play and Lindenwood went 0-for-3.

In net for the Nittany Lions, Celine Whitlinger (Garden Grove, Calif.) made 35 saves on the night, while Hensley made 31 saves for Lindenwood. Whitlinger's 35 saves tonight is the third-most this season for the senior.

The Nittany Lions return home to the Pegula Ice Arena next weekend, Nov. 6-7, as they welcome conference-foe Mercyhurst for a two-game series. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m., Friday night and 2 p.m., Saturday afternoon.
