UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's golf team, who is ranked No. 21 in the latest Golfweek poll, returns to action this weekend at the 18th annual Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, hosted by East Tennessee State beginning Friday morning at the Blackthorn Club in Jonesborough.
The three-day tournament gets underway at 8:30 a.m. Friday, with each team beginning on No. 1. Saturday and Sunday's tee times and pairings will be released at the conclusion of the first and second rounds. Penn State will tee off at 11 a.m., along with golfers from Tennessee and Missouri.
The tourney site at the Blackthorn Club at The Ridges is a par-72 / 7,147-yard course.
TAKING THE COURSE
JD Dornes, Charles Huntzinger, Cole Miller, Chris Houston and Geoff Vartelas will represent Penn State this weekend. This is Houston's first tournament appearance since the 2012-13 season when he started in eight. The remaining four have played in each of the Nittany Lions' first two tournaments of the year.
TOURNAMENT FIELD
Thirteen additional teams join Penn State and host ETSU in the 2015 Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate: Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Furman, Kent State, Louisville, Missouri, Tennessee, VCU, Villanova, Virginia, Virginia Tech, UNC Wilmington (UNCW).
Eight teams in the field are ranked in the Top 65 by Golfweek: Virginia (15), Penn State (21), ETSU (29), Kent State (37), East Carolina (43), Louisville (57), Tennessee (62) and Charlotte (65). Additionally, six individuals rank in the Top 100 Golfweek rankings: Virginia's Danny Walker (27) and Derek Bard (62), Penn State's Charles Huntzinger (32), Louisville's Robin Sciot-Siegrist (45), East Carolina's Al Dickens (84) and ETSU's Gudmundur Kristjansson (94).

LAST TIME OUT
The Nittany Lion men's golf team finished fourth at the Primland Collegiate Invitational at Primland in Meadows of Dan, Virginia, Sept. 29. The event was called after 36 holes of play because of ongoing inclement weather in the area.
Penn State was in fifth place when play was halted Monday with three golfers and four holes left to play. All three - Cole Miller, Christian Elliott and JD Dornes - birdied their final holes to complete the round. The Nittany Lions passed Pepperdine to take over fourth in the nine-team tournament.
Charles Huntzinger completed two full rounds the opening day of action, carding a 5-under on the day. Huntzinger ended up in a tie for fourth overall, leading the Nittany Lions in each of the first two tournaments of the year.
LAST YEAR AT THE BANK OF TENNESSEE INTERCOLLEGIATE
The Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate ended in just two rounds after persistent rain storms caused the cancellation of the final 18 holes Oct. 10-12, 2014. Penn State finished the tournament in third place among a competitive field of 15, marking a 291 and 278 to tally a 7-under 569 at the Blackthorn Club.
JD Dornes fired a 69 at the Blackthorn Club to total a 3-under 141 strokes and finish tied for 8th. Cody Cox and Christian Elliott completed the tournament just a stroke behind Dornes and tied for 12th overall. Jens Talbert carded a 144 (73-71) 36-hole score, while Cole Miller rounded out the Nittany Lion lineup with a two-round score of 149.

Following this weekend at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, the Nittany Lions will return to action Mountaineer Intercollegiate at the Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, West Virginia, Oct. 19 and 20.
