CANTON, N.Y. -- The St. Lawrence Saints tallied a pair of goals in the third period to a secure a 4-2 victory over the Penn State women's hockey team Tuesday afternoon at Appleton Arena. Celine Whitlinger (Garden Grove, Calif.) made 38 saves in net for the Nittany Lions.

Despite being outshot, 16-3, in the first 20 minutes, the Nittany Lions (4-9-3, 1-2-3 CHA) went into the first intermission with a 1-0 lead over the Saints. Hannah Bramm (Tampa, Fla.) netted her second goal of the series, and her third of the season, to put the Nittany Lions up 1-0 with 11:48 left in the first period of play.

Early in the second period, the Saints (9-7-1, 4-2-0 ECAC) knotted up the game at one on Megan Armstrong's fourth goal of season just 1:53 into the second stanza.

Shortly after Alex Moore was called for tripping, Laura Bowman (Minnetonka, Minn.) tallied her seventh career power play goal to put the Nittany Lions back in front under five minutes into the second period. Bowman moves into a tie with Jill Holdcroft (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa.) for second all-time in power play goals at PSU.

In the closing minutes of the second period, SLU tied the game at two on a power play goal from Brooke Webster with 3:05 left on the clock.

Heading into the final period of regulation, the Nittany Lions and Saints were tied at two goals apiece. Though, behind 18 shots, in the third period the Saints recorded a pair of goals.

In the final frame, Amanda Boulier recorded her fifth goal of the season at 8:38 and Kailee Heidersbach scored a power play empty net goal with 50 seconds left in regulation to secure a 4-2 victory for St. Lawrence.

In the game, the Saints outshot the Nittany Lions, 42-12, and went 2-for-5 on the power play, while Penn State posted a mark of 1-for-3 with the man-advantage.

The Nittany Lions return to College Hockey America play on Dec. 4-5 against Syracuse at the Tennity Ice Skating Pavilion in Syracuse, N.Y.
