- Big Ten Release
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State field hockey junior midfielder Brooke Birosik (Ickesburg, Pa.) was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. This marks the first time in her career that Birosik has earned Big Ten weekly honors.
Birosik scored all three of Penn State's goals to lead the Nittany Lions to a 3-2 victory over No. 16 Northwestern in Big Ten field hockey action Friday afternoon at Lakeside Field. The hat trick was the first of Birosik's career and it marked Penn State's second consecutive 3-2 win with one player accounting for all of the scoring. Last week's Big Ten Co-Offensive and Freshman Player of the Week, Aurelia Meijer, scored all three goals in a 3-2 win over Iowa on Oct. 30.
Penn State will travel to Bloomington, Ind. to face Indiana in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament Thursday, Nov. 5 at 5:30 p.m. ET on BTN.
