UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Eight Penn State women's soccer student-athletes were named to TopDrawerSoccer's Women's Top-100 lists, with four Nittany Lions among the nation's top-100 upperclassmen and four Nittany Lions listed as top-100 freshmen.
Frannie Crouse (Greensburg, Pa.), Emily Ogle (Strongsville, Ohio), Raquel Rodriguez (San Jose, Costa Rica) and Mallory Weber (Novi, Mich.) were named to TopDrawerSoccer's Top-100 upperclassmen list.
Rodriguez takes home the honor of the top spot on TopDrawerSoccer's Top-100 upperclassmen list.
During her senior year, Rodriguez started all 27 matches, recorded six goals and six assists. In the national championship match against No. 20 Duke, she scored the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute of play.
Rodriguez' honors this season include: NSCAA Scholar Player of the Year, Honda Sport Award nominee, Most Outstanding Player on Offense of the Women's College Cup, Women's College Cup All-Tournament Team, NSCAA Scholar First Team All-American, NSCAA All-Great Lakes First Team, NSCAA First Team All-American, MAC Hermann Trophy Finalist, All-Big Ten First Team, Academic All-Big Ten, TopDrawerSoccer Best XI First Team and TopDrawerSoccer's Player of the Year.
Ogle checks in at No. 33 followed by Weber at No. 35.
Ogle was also named to the TopDrawerSoccer Best XI Third Team earlier this week. On the year, Ogle started all 27 matches for the Nittany Lions and recorded seven goals, four of which were scored in the NCAA Tournament. She also tallied NSCAA All-Great Lakes First Team honors, All-Big Ten Second Team honors, Academic All-Big Ten plaudits and was named to the Women's College Cup All-Tournament Team.
Weber capped off her Nittany Lion career by tallying an assist on Rodriguez' game-winning goal in the College Cup Final. Weber recorded eight goals and 11 assists in the 2015 season. Weber's 11 assists this past season led the Nittany Lions and the Big Ten. Weber was also named to the College Cup All-Tournament team, NSCAA All-Great Lakes Second team, All-Big Ten First Team and Academic All-Big Ten.
Crouse is ranked 81st. She finished the 2015 season with 11 goals and seven assists. Her 11 goals in 2015 ranked second on the team and was tied for second in the Big Ten. In 2015, she also received Academic All-Big Ten honors, Women's College Cup All-Tournament Team honors, Big Ten All-Tournament Team honors and was named the Offensive Player of the Big Ten Tournament.
Ellie Jean (Coventry, Conn.), Alina Ortega-Jurado (Waldgirmes, Germany), Kaleigh Riehl (Fairfax Station, Va.) and Charlotte Williams (Rochester, N.Y.) were named to TopDrawerSoccer's Top-100 freshmen list.
Riehl leads the Nittany Lion freshmen quartet with a No. 3 ranking.
Riehl started every match on the Nittany Lion backline and recorded the second-most minutes on the team (2,360). In her freshman year, Riehl scored one goal and recorded two assists. Her first goal as a Nittany Lion came in the 79th minute of the College Cup semifinal against No. 9 Rutgers. Riehl was also named to the TopDrawerSoccer Freshman Best XI First Team, Women's College Cup All-Tournament Team, All-Big Ten Second Team and the Big Ten All-Freshman Team.
Jean is ranked No. 17. In 2015, she played in 26 matches, which included 21 starts and she dished out six assists. Jean was also named to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team and the TopDrawerSoccer Freshman Best XI Second Team.
Ortega-Jurado checks in at No. 60. During her freshman year, Ortega-Jurado played in 20 matches, scored one goal and tallied one assist. She was also named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team.
Williams rounds out the Nittany Lion freshman honors at No. 72. In her first year in Blue and White, Williams was named to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team, started 10 of the 27 matches she played in and finished the year with three goals and seven assists. Her seven assists tied Crouse for second on the team and the Big Ten.
