KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Senior Raquel Rodriguez (San Jose, Costa Rica) has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America First Team Friday. Including Rodriguez, 13 Nittany Lions have been named to the NSCAA All-America First Team on 24 occasions.
Rodriguez adds the honor to her decorated career in Blue and White. Along with the All-America honors today, Rodriguez was named to the NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region First Team Thursday and tabbed as a semifinalist for the 2015 MAC Hermann Trophy on Tuesday.
During her senior year in the Nittany Lion midfield, she has started all 25 matches, scored five goals and added six assists. Also this year, she has received All-Big Ten First Team honors and was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Two First Team.
In the Penn State record books, Rodriguez is tied for 16th in points (72), 18th in goals (22), tied for seventh in assists (28) and ranks 10th in minutes played (6,649). Eight of her 22 career goals have clinched a victory for the Nittany Lions.
The No. 6 Nittany Lions play the No. 9 Rutgers Scarlet Knights today, Dec. 4, at 5 p.m., at WakeMed Soccer Park in the semifinals of the College Cup live on ESPNU.
