Day 1 Results2015-16 Top Times: Penn State Women | Penn State Men

NEW HAVEN, Conn. ââ'¬" The Penn State women's swimming and diving team claimed six golds through 10 events to lead both Yale (104-82) and Rutgers (133-53) Friday evening after the first day of a two-day dual meet at the Kiphuth Exhibition Pool.

Haley Sinatro posted the top performance of the day, winning the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.49 to best the provisional NCAA standard.

Sinatro was also a part of Penn State's victorious 400 medley relay effort (3:44.14), as she was joined by Alyson Ackman, Melissa Rodriguez and Kaitlin Jones.

Jones reached the top four in a pair of events individually, winning the 200 freestyle in 1:49.64, followed by fellow Lions Monika Gonzalez-Hermosillo (1:51.00) and Megan Wujciak (1:51.43) in third and fourth, respectively.

Gonzalez-Hermosillo earned her second podium finish by touching first in the 200 individual medley in 2:03.61. Wujciak was third again in 2:05.47, while Katie Rowe was fourth (2:06.53). Rowe reached the podium in the 200 butterfly with a third-place finish 2:01.25, while Katelyn Sowinski was first in 2:00.45.

Additionally, Casey Francis won the 1000 free in 9:56.86.

The competition will resume Saturday at 10 a.m. with the diving events and noon for the swimming events.
