UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- After leading the Penn State men's volleyball offense during a 2-0 weekend at home against No. 14 Ball State and IPFW, Junior Chris Nugent has earned his first conference weekly award of the season, being selected as the EIVA Offensive Player of the Week Monday afternoon as announced by the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association.
Nugent helped guide Penn State to a 2-0 record with non-conference wins against #14 Ball State and IPFW. In the 3-0 victory against Ball State, Chris recorded 11 kills on a .600 attacking percentage which included one service ace. In the Nittany Lions' three-set win over IPFW, Nugent finished with 17 kills and hit .500 with one service ace. This is the first EIVA Offensive Player of the Week selection for Chris in 2016.
Nugent and the rest of the 9th ranked Nittany Lions hit the road this week for their first conference game of the season when Penn State visits Loretto, Pa. to face the Saint Francis Red Flash Friday January, 29 at 7 p.m.
