ANN ARBOR, Mich. ââ'¬" No. 25 Penn State ranks third with 100 points after the first day of the Big Ten Women's Swimming and Diving Championships Wednesday evening in the Canham Natatorium on the campus of the University of Michigan.

The opening night featured a pair of relays. The Nittany Lions had their best performance in the 800 freestyle relay, as the team of Alyson Ackman (Montreal, Quebec), Megan Wujciak (Livingston, N.J.), Niki Price (Manchester, Pa.) and Kaitlin Jones (Midlothian, Va.) touched in fourth place with a season-best and NCAA A-cut time of 7:05.67.

Penn State finished sixth in the 200-medley relay, as Allie Pennetti (Wexford, Pa.), Haley Sinatro (West Hartford, Conn.), Katie Saloky (Bloomsburg, Pa.) and Jones combined to finish in a season-best 1:38.97.

No. 13 Indiana leads overall with 120 points and the host No. 3 Wolverines are second with 116 points. Ohio State is tied with Penn State in third

The four-day meet is scheduled to continue Thursday with preliminaries starting at 11 a.m. and finals starting at 6:30. The action Wednesday through the Saturday prelims will be covered live on BTN Plus, while the Saturday finals will be broadcast live on BTN2Go.
