UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa
. - Senior mid-distance specialist Brannon Kidder will take part in the world's longest-running and most prestigious indoor track & field competition this weekend as he travels to New York City, New York to run in the Millrose Games at The Armory.

"We are very excited for Brannon to run at the historic Millrose games this weekend,"
said head coach John Gondak. "It is the premier track meet on the indoor circuit and will provide Brannon the chance to run against some of the best 800-meter runners in the world."

Since its inception in 1908 at a local armory, the NYRR Millrose Games is one of track and field's most prestigious annual events. A New York City sports staple, the meet moved to the New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory in Washington Heights in 2012 after having called the Madison Square Garden home from 1914 to 2011.

Established by employees of Wanamaker's Department Store, the games feature track & field's most prolific male and female stars as well as collegiate and high school competitors.

More than 200 athletes share the distinction of being both Millrose and Olympic Champions.

Kidder enters Saturday's meet carrying a season best time of 1:47.01 in the 800-meters set during a first-place finish at the Penn State National on January 29th at the Ashenfelter III indoor track, but has a lifetime best of 1:45.58 set on May 2, 2015 at the Payton Jordan Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.

Kidder's performance that weekend earned him Big Ten Athlete of the week honors as well as being featured on the first United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) QA2 Max Podcast of the 2016 indoor track & field season.

The Lancaster, Ohio native is no stranger to the Millrose Games, having competed there in 2013 at a very elite level, contributing to the 4Ã-800-meter relay setting the meet record at 7:21.37 on February 16, 2013.

The meet record in the 800-meters for the Milrose Games is currently set at 1:47.17 by American Johnny Gray in 1986.
