ERIE, Pa. -- The Penn State women's hockey team battled to a 2-2 tie against College Hockey America (CHA) opponent Mercyhurst in the 2015-16 regular season finale for both teams Saturday afternoon inside the Mercyhurst Ice Arena.

Penn State concludes the 2015-16 regular season with a record of 10-18-6 (6-8-6 CHA) and Mercyhurst heads into postseason play with a record of 17-10-5 (14-3-3 CHA).

For the second time in the series and for the seventh time in her junior season, Amy Petersen (Minnetonka, Minn.) lit the lamp for the Nittany Lions. Penn State opened up the scoring 9:09 into the second frame on the Petersen strike. Defensemen Bella Sutton (Shoreview, Minn.) and Kelly Seward (Williamsville, N.Y.) recorded assists on the game's opening goal.

Mercyhurst responded to the Petersen tally with a pair of goals from Broke Hartwick within a 3 minute and 12 second span to take a 2-1 lead heading into the third period. Hartwick scored her first goal of the game at 10:07 in the second period and netted her second goal of the contest at 13:19.

The Lakers took the 2-1 lead into the third period before Laura Bowman (Minnetonka, Minn.) netted her team-leading 14th goal of the season 5:36 into the third period. On the Bowman goal, Hannah Bramm (Tampa, Fla.) and Sutton tallied assists.

Despite scoring chances from both teams down the final stretch of the third period and overtime to neither team was able find the game-winner securing the 2-2.

In net for Penn State, Hannah Ehresmann (Minnetonka, Minn.) recorded 32 saves, Mercyhurst goalie Sarah McDonnell made 12 saves on the afternoon.

Both teams converted power play goals as Penn State went 1-for-2 and Mercyhurst went 1-for-6.
