FINAL STATISTICS

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The hit song Save the Best for Last was released three years before senior Candice Agee (Victorville, Calif.) was born, but on Wednesday evening inside the Bryce Jordan Center that song couldn't have been more true, as she tied her career-high with 21 points in an 81-68 victory over Iowa in the final home game of her career.

Agee pulled down seven rebounds, handed out two assists and came away with three steals, to go with her 21 tallies against Iowa (17-12, 7-10 B1G), while fellow senior Brianna Banks (Newnan, Ga.) poured in 17 points and added a career-best five steals to help the Lady Lions (11-17, 6-11 B1G) earn the season sweep of the Hawkeyes.

Sophomore Lindsey Spann (Laurel, Md.) continued her solid season with 18 points, four assists and two steals in the game. Spann notched her 18 points on 5-of-8 shooting -- including 4-of-6 from three-point range -- and added a 4-of-4 effort from the free throw line. Her four three pointers give her 97 for her career, tying her with Dana Eikenberg (1989-92) for No. 14 on the career charts.

Freshman Teniya Page (Chicago, Ill.) handed out six more assists to move her season total to 112 helpers and move in the No. 6 spot on the all-time freshman charts. She chipped in eight points on 4-of-7 shooting to move her season total to 430 points.

Juniors Kaliyah Mitchell (Stone Mountain, Ga.) and Peyton Whitted (Suwanee, Ga.) both had balanced nights on the boards and in the scoring column. Mitchell had six points and six rebounds, while Whitted tallied nine points to go along with six boards.

Banks and Agee combined to score the first 11 points for Penn State, as the Lady Lions built an early 11-5 edge. Spann splashed in a three-pointer in transition to push the lead to nine points, 14-5, before the two teams traded baskets the rest of the quarter. The two squads equaled one another's eight points; with PSU notching the final two buckets on layups from Whitted and Page to take a 22-13 lead into the first break.

The Lady Lions pushed the led to double-digits, 24-13, on the opening possession thanks to a Mitchell jumper. Iowa quickly trimmed the lead to six points with a 5-0 spurt, but Penn State closed the quarter on a 17-4 run to push the advantage to 18 points at the half, 41-23. Banks led all scorers with 11 first half tallies, while Agee and Spann added eight points.

A 9-4 run to open the third quarter moved Penn State's lead to 23 points after a Page jumper with 6:23 to play. The lead grew to 25 points with 3:56 to play as an and-one from Agee, layup from Thomas and jumper by Banks accounted for a 7-0 run to make it 57-32. However, Iowa wouldn't go quietly, ending the quarter on an 11-3 run to make it a 17-point Penn State lead, 60-43, entering the final 10 minutes.

Iowa cut the lead to single digits with a 17-6 spurt over the first four minutes of the fourth quarter, to make it a 65-58 lead for the Lady Lions. The two teams exchanged scored on the next seven possessions, sitting at 73-65 in favor of Penn State with 2:12 to play, but the Lady Lions closed strong with an 8-3 burst to clinch the victory, 81-68.

Penn State closes out the regular season at Indiana on Saturday, Feb. 27 inside Assembly Hall. The Lady Lions and Hoosiers will tip off at 3 p.m. with the game airing live on the Big Ten Network and via the Penn State Sports Network.
