UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State men's basketball (11-12, 2-10) is set to welcome No. 20/21 Indiana (19-4, 9-1) at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Bryce Jordan Center. This is the second-consecutive meeting for the Lions vs. a team at the top of the Big Ten.

STORYLINES

  • This is Alumni Weekend for the PSU program with at least 35 former players expected to return for the game and surrounding events. John Amaechi will serve as the honorary captain vs. the Hoosier
  • After opening with seven of 10 away from University Park, this is Penn State's fourth Big Ten home game. No other league team has had fewer than five in the first 10 games. The Nittany Lions have traveled roughly 6,112 miles across Big Ten country over the last five weeks.
  • Three Nittany Lions are scoring in double-figures: Brandon Taylor (16.3 ppg), Shep Garner (13.7) and Payton Banks (10.3) with Taylor controlling the boards (6.3) and Garner also leading in assists (3.1).
    Brandon Taylor produced his second-consecutive and fifth double-double of the season at Iowa with 15 points and a Big Ten career-high 10 rebounds. He is one of 11 league players with at least four double-doubles.

SCOUTING INDIANA
The 20th ranked Hoosiers enter Saturday with a 19-4 overall record and are atop the Big Ten standings with Iowa, holding a 9-1 league mark. Their lone conference loss came on the road in overtime to Wisconsin Jan. 26 to end a 12-game win streak, but it has been followed by back-to-back wins. Indiana's last win, an 80-67 decision over Michigan in Ann Arbor, was punctuated by a 28-0 mid-game scoring run.

Yogi Ferrell leads the Hoosiers with 17.4 points and 5.8 assists per game. He is one of four players averaging in double-figures for an Indiana team that is seventh in the nation in scoring (85.0), second in field-goal percentage (51.7%) and fifth in 3-point field goal percentage (43.2%). LAST TIME VS. THE HOOSIERS
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (Jan. 13, 2015) -
Penn State was led by Ross Travis and Shep Garner, who each had 14, but a late charge from Indiana was enough to hold off the Nittany Lions 76-73 on Tuesday. The Hoosiers have won two straight but had to survive a replay review on Brandon Taylor's 3-pointer that would have forced overtime. Officials determined the shot came after the buzzer. The Nittany Lions cut a 12-point deficit to 76-73 on Travis' basket with 53.1 seconds to go.

NOTABLE GAMES IN THE SERIES
March 10, 2011 (PSU, 61-55):
Penn State used 15 points and seven rebounds from Jeff Brooks to hold off Indiana in the first round of the Big Ten tournament, earning the Lions' sixth win in the previous seven games vs. IU and the last win in the series. No. 6 seed Penn State went on to advance to the title game.

March 12, 2009 (PSU, 66-51): Jamelle Cormley put up 22 points as Penn State downed the Hoosiers in the first round of the Big Ten tournament. The 2008-09 Lions went on to win the NIT Championship.

Jan. 27, 1996 (IU, 85-70): Pete Lisicky tallied seven 3-pointers in the loss at Assembly Hall. The seven treys are tied for the most by a PSU player in Big Ten action.

UP NEXT
The Nittany Lions have a week off before returning to action on the road again, taking on Nebraska at 6 p.m. ET Saturday, Feb. 13 on ESPNU. The Huskers are 12-11 on the season and 4-6 in Big Ten play with matchups vs. Rutgers (2/6) and at Wisconsin (2/10) before hosting Penn State. Nebraska will make the trip to University Park just 12 days later for a Thursday, Feb. 25 matchup in the BJC.
