TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The men's golf team from Happy Valley finished in a tie with East Tennessee State for fourth place in the 14-team field, while carding a team total of 8-under throughout the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee, Florida.
With the threat of inclement weather looming large on Sunday a decision was made to play the final round on Saturday as well. All teams played 36 holes on the day to wrap up the tournament.
ROUND 2
The 23rd-ranked Nittany Lions finished the second round of the Seminole Intercollegiate posting a collective 4-under round placing them in a six way tie for fourth place with Louisville, East Tennessee State, James Madison, Jacksonville, and Mississippi.
Charles Huntzinger (Duluth, Ga.) and JD Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) both paced the Lions with each of them carding a 2-under 70 second round. Huntzinger's performance put him at 3-under for the tournament and also placed him in a three way tie for ninth place heading into the final 18 holes.
Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.) shot an even par 72 in round two resulting in him moving into the three-way tie with Huntzinger for ninth place overall. Senior Geoff Vartelas (Cromwell, Conn.) shot an even par round to put him at 3-over for the tournament and in a tie for 46th. Rounding out second round play, Christian Elliott (Port Perry, Ontario) carded an 80 for the Lions.

ROUND 3
The Blue and White golfers shot their second 4-under round of the day Saturday carding a 284 altogether to finish the tournament in a tie for fourth place with East Tennessee State.
"Charles (Huntzinger) was right there until the end to win the individual," says head coach Greg Nye. "Cole (Miller) put together another solid tournament. As a team to come south at this time of year and keep it close with No. 3 ranked Auburn and No. 4 ranked Florida State in their backyard was another quality marker for this team as we move forward."
Just as they did earlier in the day, Charles Huntzinger and JD Dornes each shot a 2-under 70 to lead the way for the Lions. Huntzinger ended the tournament at 5-under and in a three way tie for fourth place. With Dornes' second 70 of the day he moved into a five way tie for 25th place.
Cole Miller shot his only over par round of the tournament with a 1-over 73, but with his strong performances in the first two rounds he finished as the second Lion in the top-20 tied for 19th overall shooting 2-under over the course of the 54-hole event.
Geoff Vartelas put together his best round of the tournament shooting 1-under putting him at 2-over for the event and in a tie for 35th, while Christian Elliott repeated his play in round one shooting a 1-over 73 which landed him in a tie for 59th.
Chris Houston ended his play with a 1-under 71 resulting in an overall finish tied for 30th at 1-over for the tournament as an individual.
