UNIVERSITY PARK, PA - The 26th-ranked men's golf team shot a tournament low round of 276 en route to its third tournament victory of the 2015-16 campaign, capturing first place in the 24-team Kingsmill Intercollegiate Tuesday. The Nittany Lions' three-day total of 845 (+5) breaks the previous tournament record at the tournament on the River Course of the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia.

"Total team effort today," head coach Greg Nye said. "Great rounds out of Chris (Houston), JD (Dornes) and Cole (Miller) in the wind, under final round course set up. Charles (Huntzinger) played an incredible tournament."

Three Nittany Lions finished in the top ten, while four of the five starters placed inside the top 25 as well. The aforementioned freshman Charles Huntzinger (Duluth, Ga.) shot a 74 on the final 18 holes to finish tied for second marking his best finish of the year.

Senior Chris Houston (Gilford, N.H.) shot a 66 final round which was the lowest for the Blue and White on day three of competition. Houston moved into sole possession of fifth place after his round finishing with a 1-over 211. JD Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) finished with just one more stroke on his scorecard than teammate Houston on the day (67) and in the tournament (212). Dornes was the third Lion finishing in the top ten as he finished in sixth place.

Sophomore Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.) shot his best round of the tournament carding a 1-under 69 to finish in a tie for 21st with a 218 score after 54 holes. Geoff Vartelas (Cromwell, Conn.) rounded out the Penn State starters with a 78 finishing in a tie for 69th place at 227.

"We have been traveling a ton. Our guys just managed the needed rest, studies, practice and got it done in grand style," Nye continued. "Amazing effort."

Behind the Nittany Lions on the team leaderboard was 46th ranked Tennessee (+10, 850), 50th ranked TCU (+15, 855), and Drake (+28, 868) in second, third, and fourth place, respectively.

Huntzinger finished in a tie with Tennessee's Chad Merzbacher at 5-under, two strokes behind the individual winner Paul Barjon from TCU. Drake's Drew Ison stood alone in fourth at even par before Houston and Dornes in fifth and sixth at one-over and two-over.

The Nittany Lion golfers return to Happy Valley for a three week break before returning to action April 9-10 in Columbus, Ohio for the Kepler Intercollegiate.
