Keenan Earns Big Ten Weekly Honor

March 29, 2016

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- After helping the Nittany Lions capture the 2016 Patriot cup with a win against top-ranked Denver, sophomore Ryan Keenan (Smithtown, N.Y.) has earned Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors.

The award is the first of Keenan's career and the fifth time a Nittany Lion has earned a Big Ten weekly honor this season. He shares the Offensive Player of the Week nod this week with Maryland's Connor Kelly.

Keenan was one of two Nittany Lions to register a hat trick in Penn State's 15-10 win against the top-ranked Pioneers last weekend, snapping Denver's 20-game win streak. He also dished out two assists for a career-high five points in the victory. The hat trick marks is the second of the season for Keenan, who also logged three goals in the Nittany Lion win against Hobart earlier this season.

With multi-goal outings in two of the last four games, Keenan has totaled six goals in the span, as well as four assists, averaging 2.25 points per game in the four-game stretch.

Keenan and the rest of the No. 18 Penn State Nittany Lions are set to open the 2016 Big Ten conference slate on the road this weekend. The Nittany Lions travel to Ohio State to square off against the Buckeyes Sunday, April 3 at noon in Ohio Stadium. The matchup will broadcast live on ESPNU with Anish Shroff and Ryan Flanagan on the call.
