FORT WORTH, Texas - Briannah Tsang (Vancouver, British Columbia) closed out her sophomore season Friday in her NCAA Championships debut inside the Fort Worth Convention Center. Tsang, competing on the floor exercise in the first semifinal of the NCAA Championships, tied for 16th in session one with her score of 9.8125. Overall, Tsang tied for 38th between the two sessions.
The NCAA Championship scoring format includes six judges.
Tsang made her first appearance at the NCAA Championships after tying for the floor exercise title at the NCAA Regional Championships with a score of 9.900.
During her Nittany Lion career she has competed in the all-around in 24 out of 25 meets over the past two seasons.
Last season as a freshman, Tsang was named the 2015 Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Year, which is the fourth honor in program history. Tsang joined Sharaya Musser (2010), Brandi Personett (2007) and Nikki Bongiovanni (1999). She was also named second team All-Big Ten during 2015.
In her Nittany Lion career, she owns 19 career individual event titles and five career all-around crowns. Her individual titles include: seven vault wins, one uneven bars, three balance beam and eight floor exercise titles.
In the Penn State record books, she ranks tied for ninth on the vault (9.500) and she ranks tied for 10th on the balance beam (9.950).
Tsang picked up All-Big Ten First Team honors and was named Academic All-Big Ten in 2016.
The 2016 Nittany Lion roster did not feature any seniors and PSU welcomes three student-athletes to the team for the 2017 season.
