UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State hosted the annual Jim Thorpe meet Friday afternoon at the Penn State outdoor track & field facility with the Nittany Lions winning all but three events that Penn State had athletes entered in.
Penn State along with Lock Haven, Buffalo, Mansfield University, PSU-Harrisburg, West Virginia, and Shenadoah braved the rain and chilly winds to compete in the annual meet.
Among the 18 events that Penn State won on the day were the women's long and triple jump that was swept by Dannielle Gibson who recorded marks of 5.98m (19'-7.50") and 12.55m (41'-2.25").
Gibson is currently ranked No. 14 in the nation in the women's triple jump with a season best mark of 13.08m (42'-11") set earlier this season at the Pepsi Invitational in Eugene, Ore.
Ahmenah Richardson recorded a season best mark of 1.78m (5'-10") in the women's high jump en route to a first-place finish.
The Nittany Lions head to Lincoln, NE for the 2016 Big Ten Championships hosted by the University of Nebraska May 13-14.
