EUGENE, Ore. - The lone competitor on Thursday for the Nittany Lions, Lauren Kenney (State College, Pa.) finished the day with a 15th-place finish in the women's javelin throw.
Kenney, for the third time during her time in Happy Valley, competed at the NCAA Championships in the event to wrap up her career in the Blue & White.
"It went pretty well I can't be mad about a season's best performance," said Lauren Kenney.
"I figured out somethings yesterday that helped me get a little bit further throw but it was just a little bit too late. If I had a few more throws I feel like I could've popped one out there but that's just how it goes sometimes. Looking back at my career it's been fantastic, I'll always be a Penn Stater and I'll always bleed blue."
"Her warmups looked great," said Penn State throws coach Patrick Ebel.
"Her coming back from an injury, I think she's starting to figure it out, unfortunately this meet wasn't a week or two later. I think she's starting to put things together now. When she started competing today it was her best throw of the year again unfortunately we just ran out of meets for her. She had a heck of a career, a two-time All-American, a Big Ten champion, third-best throw in school history, there's a lot of things she's accomplished and im extremely proud and honored to coach her.
Kenney finished competition with a best throw of 49.79m (163'-4") - a season best - achieved on her second attempt during the first flight.
Tomorrow will be the busiest day of the week for Penn State as both Brannon Kidder and Isaiah Harris compete in the finals of the 1,500-meters and 800-meters, respectively, while Brian Leap (triple jump) and David Lucas (discus throw) will compete in the field for the Nittany Lions.
