UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Eight members of Penn State's women's tennis team have been named to the 2016 ITA All-Academic Team. Two-thirds of head coach Chris Cagle's roster were named to the ITA's national All-Academic squad.
Junior Katia Blik (Moscow, Russia), sophomore Hannah Kraty (Greenwich, Conn.), sophomore Kelly Mengel (Pittsburgh, Pa.), junior Dasha Sapogova (Belarus, Minsk), junior Taylor Shukow (Boca Raton, Fla.), junior Samantha Tutelman (New York, N.Y.), senior Katherine Whiteaway (Sawbridgeworth, England) and junior Jacqueline Zushe (Boca Raton, Fla.) all made the grade.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
