UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Recent graduate David Glen will be continuing his hockey career in the professional ranks as he has signed a one-year deal with the Idaho Steelheads of the East Coast Hockey League for the 2016-17 season as announced earlier this week.
Idaho is the minor league affiliate of the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League (AHL) and the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL).
Glen, a two-time alternate captain, donned the "C" this past season and finished his Penn State career fourth on the all-time list for points (69), goals (29) and assists (40) while his 122 games played is third most in the programs four-year history.
"I'm so grateful for all of the opportunities my time at Penn State has afforded me," commented Glen. "The fans, staff and program as a whole have given me an experience for which I will be forever grateful, and I'm excited for the next challenge in my career with the Idaho Steelheads!"
Glen graduated as a four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and also became the first Nittany Lion to earn the Senior CLASS Award this past season. The award is presented annually to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in Division I men's ice hockey.
"Idaho got a tremendous leader and a player's player who will do anything for the team," mentioned Head Coach Guy Gadowsky. "We congratulate both David and the Steelheads."
Glen becomes the eighth player from the 2015-16 roster to sign a professional contract since the conclusion of the season, most recently joining fellow classmate Kenny Brooks who inked a deal with the Atlanta Gladiators in the middle of July.
Idaho opens their 2016-17 slate on the road with a pair of games against the Utah Grizzlies on October 14-15 before a four game home stand October 21-28.
