Team
- The series now stands at 13-7 in favor of Michigan, with a 7-3 Wolverine advantage at Michigan Stadium.
- Junior LB Brandon Smith made his first career start, giving Penn State 10 first time starters in 2016.
- Redshirt-freshman Jan Johnson made his first collegiate appearance in the second quarter, becoming the 20th freshman (16 redshirt, 4 true) to appear in 2016.
- Johnson suffered a season-ending injury in the second quarter, marking the second-straight weekend Penn State has lost a linebacker for the season due to injury.

Offense
- Sophomore RB Saquon Barkley posted a career-high 77 yards receiving, making five receptions.
- Barkley had 59 yards on the ground to move him into the top-30 in career rushing yards. He now has 1,393 career yards on the ground to move up to No. 29 on the all-time list. He passed Stephfon Green (1,351 yds.; 2008-11) and Steve Geise (1,362 yds.; 1975-77) in the game.
- Barkley is the first Nittany Lion to lead the team in rushing and receiving since Akeel Lynch had 137 rushing yards and 35 receiving yards at Illinois in 2014 to pace the Nittany Lions in both categories.
- Barkley's 77 receiving yards are the most for a Penn State running back since Stephfon Green had one catch for 80 yards and a touchdown against Michigan in 2008.
- True freshman RB Miles Sanders made his first career catch, a 3-yard reception in the fourth quarter.
- Junior WR Chris Godwin made one reception in the game and now has at least one catch in 29-of-30 career games played.
- The 8-yard touchdown grab in the fourth quarter gives him nine for his career.
- Sophomore QB Trace McSorley threw one touchdown pass, moving his streak to five straight games with at least one scoring strike.
- Junior TE Mike Gesicki caught a career-high five passes, gaining 23 yards.

Defense
- Senior S Malik Golden posted his first career double-digit tackle game with a game-high-tying 11 stops.
- Sophomore LB Manny Bowen made a career-high seven stops. His previous high was six stops vs. Army on Oct. 2, 2015.
- Redshirt-freshman LB Jan Johnson made two tackles in his first collegiate appearance.
- True freshman Cameron Brown made a career-best 10 tackles. He made is only career stop at Pitt on Sept, 10, 2016.
- Brown made his first career tackle-for-loss in the game, stopping Jake Butt behind the line for a 1-yard loss in the third quarter.
- Brown is the first Penn State true freshman to record double digit tackle in a game since S Marcus Allen had 11 stops against Ohio State in 2014.
- Brown is the first Penn State true freshman linebacker to post double figures in tackles since Kairi Fortt had 11 tackles versus Illinois in 2010.
- Junior LB Brandon Smith made his first solo tackle-for-loss in the first quarter, taking down De'Veon Smith for a 1-yard loss.
- Sophomore LB Koa Farmer made a career-best three tackles. He previously had one career tackle, coming vs. Kent State earlier this season.
- Sophomore CB Amani Oruwariye made a career-best three tackles. Oruwariye previously made two stop on three occasions.
- Junior DT Tyrell Chavis tied his career high with two stops. He also had two tackles vs. Kent State earlier this year.
- Redshirt-freshman DT Kevin Givens tied his career high with three stops. Givens also made three tackles against Kent State on Sept. 3, 2016.

Special Teams
- Freshman P Blake Gillikin tied his career high with six punts and had one punt inside the 20.
- Gillikin had one punt downed inside Michigan's 10-yard line, his fourth punt of the season downed inside the opposition's 10-yard line.
- The 61-yard punt is the fourth longest by a freshman in school history. His career-long punt of 69 yards vs. Pitt ranks No. 2 on the single game freshman charts.
- PK Tyler Davis converted his only field goal attempt of the game in the third quarter, making him 14-of-14 in his career.
- Davis also made an extra point, making him 23-of-23 on extra point attempts in his career.
- True freshman RB Miles Sanders returned a career-high three kickoffs for a career-best 67 yards in the game.

- Penn State returns home to begin a three-game homestand at Beaver Stadium, starting with a matchup against Minnesota on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 3:30 p.m. on the BTN.
