Penn State Women's Heads to the Penn Invitational

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; September 29, 2016 ââ'¬" The Penn State women's tennis team will take part in the Penn Invitational in Philadelphia this weekend, with action beginning on Friday, September 30 at the Penn Invitational in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The tournament will run from Friday, September 30 till Sunday, October 2. The eight Nittany Lions heading to Philadelphia are Katia Blik (Moscow, Russia), Devan McCluskey (Phoenix, Ariz.), Liyin Xu (Chengdu, China), Jacqueline Zuhse (Boca Raton, Florida), Dasha Sapogova (Belarus, Minsk), Taylor Shukow (Boca Raton, Florida), Bennett Dunn (Orlando, Fla.), Samantha Smith (Cary, N.C.) and Shannon Hanley (Kensington, Md.).

Cagle has announced his doubles pairs for the weekend: Shukow/Sapogova, Smith/Hanley, Zuhse/Dunn and McCluskey/Blik. Liyin Xu will pair with a player from another competing team.

"Coming off the tournament in Midland, Texas we are ready to get back competing against another strong field at the tournament hosted by Penn this weekend," Cagle said. "The team is ready to compete hard and support each other throughout the weekend. I look forward to seeing our progress as we get into more tournament competition this weekend."

After the Penn Invitational concludes, the Nittany Lions will travel to Norfolk, Va., for the ITA Regionals, which runs from Friday, October 14 until Sunday, October 16.
