UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State finds itself in seventh place after the opening round of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate in Jonesborough, Tennessee.

"We did a very good work today staying on plan thru 12 holes," said head coach Greg Nye. "We have some things we want to clean up in our strategy playing two or three of those finishing holes."

The Lions shot a 3-under 285 as a team led by sophomore Charles Huntzinger's (Duluth, Ga.) 66 that puts him in a tie for second place at 6-under. Six birdies and an eagle on the par 5, 545 yard 10th hole paced Huntzinger's round putting him near the top of the leaderboard.

"Charles was patient from the start today then really got it going," Nye continued. "Great round today."

Junior Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.) started off hot birdieing three of his first four holes before cooling off and ending with a 1-under 71 putting him in a tie for 22nd. Sophomore JD Hughes (Carlisle, Pa.) sits at 1-over with a 73, while sophomore Ryan Davis (Berekeley Heights, N.J.) finished with a 3-over 75. Senior Christian Elliott (Port Perry, Ontario) wrapped up his first round of the contest with 76.

Playing as an individual for the Lions, sophomore Ryan Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) ended his opening round with a 1-over 73.
