UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; October 16, 2016 ââ'¬" As the third day of the ITA Regionals concluded, the Penn State women's tennis team continued its momentum from the first two days of the tournament.
Devan McCluskey (Phoenix, Ariz.) beat Perry of William and Mary 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8). Katia Blik (Moscow, Russia), beat Saperstein of Georgetown in three sets 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. Jacqueline Zuhse (Boca Raton, Florida) fell to Berezhnaya of VCU 6-4, 6-2. Samantha Smith (Cary, N.C.) lost against Turhan of Marshall 6-3, 6-3. Dasha Sapogova (Belarus, Minsk), did not compete today due to an injury.
"Katia did a great job today closing out two close matches," said head coach Chris Cagle. "Devan also did well with a third set win against a strong player. I look forward to Katia continuing her strong play tomorrow in the quarters. It is great to see the hard work pay off for her and others."
No doubles matches were played today.
Blik will compete against Mercer of Virginia tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m.
