Nittany Lions in the NFL -- Week Seven

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - A total of 30 Penn State football alumni are populating the active rosters of 20 National Football League teams. The Nittany Lions annually are among the top 20 programs nationally in producing players in the NFL. Each week throughout the year, GoPSUsports.com will provide updates on the exploits of these former Nittany Lion greats.

The Nittany Lions saw their NFL numbers grow heading into the weekend, as veteran kicker Robbie Gould signed with the New York Giants and hustled off to meet the team in London and linebacker Deion Barnes signed on to the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad. Gould was successful in his season debut, converting his lone field goal attempt. Other former Nittany Lions to enjoy success included Donovan Smith, who blocked for Buccaneers rushers totaling 249 yards. Gerald Hodges setup a 49ers touchdown with an interception and defensive linemen Cameron Wake and (Dolphins) and Carl Nassib (Browns) both registered sacks.

Hodges made an interception and returned it for 21 yards. He also had seven tackles (six solo). The interception setup a 17-yard touchdown pass on the very next play and gave San Francisco a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Buccaneers rallied.
