Penn State gets back into action after a few weeks off

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; October 27, 2016- Twenty Penn State fencers will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. this weekend to compete in the 37th Temple Open. The two-day long tournament will start Saturday, Oct. 29 with the women's events and finish with the men's on Sunday, Oct. 30.

The Temple Open begins at 8:30 a.m. each day. The meet, which remains the largest individual collegiate tournament in the nation, will be held in Temple's Liacouras Center.

Those competing for the Penn State women this weekend are as followed:

Epee
: Sophomores Anastasia Kalonji (Rennes, France), Nicolette Vigna (Thornwood, N.Y.), Alissa Hofmann (Cambridge, Mass.) and freshmen Alissa Gozali (Singapore, Singapore) and Barbara Vanbenthuysen (Spring, TX).

Foil: Senior Desree Ortega-Fergeson (Wyoming, Mich.) and Juniors Najiyyah Clark (Maplewood, N.J.) and Kasey Iverson (Basking Ridge, N.J.).

Sabre: Sophomores Erin McLoughlin (San Jose, Costa Rica) and DeAna Oliver (Montclair, N.J.).

Those competing for the Penn State men this weekend are as followed:

Epee: Senior Patrick August (Las Vegas, Nev.) and sophomore Joshua Cole (Chappaqua, N.Y.) and Anton Piskovatskov (Houston, TX) and freshmen Rodell Clinton (Annadale, VA).

Foil: Freshmen Mohamed Hassan (Saint Louis, MO), Andrey Ostatnigrosh (Fresno, Calif.) and Felipe Rosario (Maplewood, N.J.).

Sabre: Junior Eduardo Lara (Queretaro, Mexico), sophomore Marcel Dolegiewicz (Park Ridge, Ill.) and Matthew Lewicki (Oakland, N.J.). Check back on GoPSUsports for daily recaps of the weekend's collegiate fencing action.
