UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State field hockey team will host Princeton in the First-Round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 11:30 a.m. The Nittany Lions have qualified for the NCAA Tournament in six of the last seven seasons.
The Nittany Lions and the Tigers will meet for the 11th time in postseason program history, with Penn State holding a 6-4 advantage. Princeton is 9-7 overall and went 5-2 in the Ivy League. The Tigers boasted two top-20 wins, taking down then-No. 12 Albany (Sept. 9) and then-No. 10 Delaware (Sept. 11). Princeton senior Cat Caro leads the team with 15 goals and 35 points.
Penn State has qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 31 of the possible 35 seasons, starting in 1982. The Nittany Lions' 31 appearances ranks third nationally in NCAA Tournament berths. Penn State's game against Princeton will mark its 58th all-time tournament game.
Morett-Curtiss has now led the Nittany Lions to NCAA Tournament action in 26 of her 30 seasons at the helm, reaching the finals in 2002 and 2007.
The winner of the PSU/PRIN game will take on winner of Virginia and Michigan - which will also be played at Penn State Field Hockey Complex. The winner of each game will advance play in the NCAA quarterfinals on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. ET for a chance to go to the Final Four in Virginia on Nov. 18-20.
