WENTZVILLE, Mo. - Behind a pair of goals within the first 3:55 of play and a 41-save performance from junior goaltender Hannah Ehresmann (Minnetonka, Minn.), the Penn State women's hockey team shut out College Hockey America (CHA) opponent Lindenwood, 2-0, Saturday afternoon at the Lindenwood Ice Arena.
For the Nittany Lion (8-17-5, 7-7-2 CHA) offense Saturday, Amy Petersen (Minnetonka, Minn.) and Aly Hardy (St. Albans, Vt.) each scored once within a 24-second span to put the Blue & White up 2-0 early in the game.
Petersen tallied her 13th goal of the season, and her 99th career point, at 3:31 into the game and then Hardy picked up her third goal of the 2016-17 campaign at 3:55 to give Penn State a 2-0 lead.
In net for the Nittany Lions, Ehresmann posted 12 saves in the first period, a game-high 19 saves in the middle frame, and she completed the shutout with 10 saves over the final 20 minutes of play. For the Lindenwood Lions (5-20-2, 3-12-1 CHA), netminder Jolene deBruyn tallied a 19-save performance.
Next up for Penn State is a series at No. 8 Robert Morris on Feb. 17-18 for its final road trip of the 2016-17 regular season. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. and 3 p.m. inside the 84 Lumber Arena.
