UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. ââ'¬" For the fourth time this season, sophomore guard Teniya Page (Chicago, Ill.) was honored by the Big Ten Conference office, this time earning a spot on the Big Ten Weekly Honor Roll after helping the Penn State women's basketball program to a pair of conference victories.
Page continued her impressive sophomore campaign with a pair of 20-point games last week, leading the Lady Lions to a pair of Big Ten victories that pushed Penn State up three spots in the standings and into the No. 6 spot in the conference.
Averaging 24.5 points per game, Page added 4.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds per contest, while committing only three total turnovers. Her 36.5 minutes per game led the team, she connected on 51.7 percent of her shots from the floor.
Against Minnesota, Page poured in 25 points and handed out five assists, moving past the 900 career point mark. She hit 9-of-17 shots - including three 3-pointers - for her 10th 20-point game of the season.
The 11th 20-point game didn't have to wait long, as Page poured in 24 points against Purdue - after not attempting a shot in the first quarter. The sophomore got to the free throw line 16 times - making 11 of them - and again hit 50 percent of her shots from the floor. Page's 17 second half points helped Penn State overcome a four-point halftime deficit to claim the win.
As if two 20 point games weren't impressive enough, of her 49 points scored in the two games (24.5 ppg), 22 of them were tallied in the fourth quarter (11.0 ppg). She hit 6-of-10 shots in the final 10 minutes and was 9-of-12 from the free throw line.
