NEW ORLEANS, LA. - The Penn State women's track & field team checks in at No. 17, in the National Computer Rankings, as released Monday afternoon by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The Nittany Lions captured their fourth Big Ten Indoor Championship in program history this past weekend at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Penn State recorded seven top-five programs marks over the weekend as well as a school record by Tessa Barrett who recorded a huge personal best mark while recording the No. 2 time in the NCAA in the 5,000-meters during a silver medal performance.
The week six rankings feature four Big Ten women's teams. Indiana checks in at No. 14 followed by Purdue at No. 15, Penn State at No. 17 and Michigan at No. 21.
Penn State is also ranked as the top team in the Mid-Atlantic region, a spot they have held all year, while holding the third highest point total in the regional rankings with 514.88 trailing only No. 3 Arkansas (South Central - 536.84) and the NCAA's No. 1 team Oregon (West - 569.35).
Penn State returns to the track Mar. 10-11 as they travel to College Station, Texas for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on the campus of Texas A&M at the Gilliam Indoor Stadium.
