UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State's 4-over round of 284 has put the Lions in first place of the Kingsmill intercollegiate after round two of the 54-hole tournament in Williamsburg, Virginia.
The Blue and White have the best par-3 and par-4 scoring averages amongst the 22-team field at 3.10 and 4.19, respectively. The Lions also hold the lead for most birdies with 32, six more than the next highest total.
Junior Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.) shot a 1-under 69 to complement his even par showing in day one to sit at one-under tied for second. Sophomore Ryan Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) shot an even par round to go with his one-under round from yesterday to sit tied with Miller in second place. Dornes finished strong with three birdies throughout his final six holes.
Freshman Ryan Davis (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) shot a one-over 71 to put him at 144 and tied for ninth place. Senior Christian Elliott (Port Perry, Ontario) and sophomore Charles Huntzinger (Duluth, Ga.) both shot 4-over putting Elliott in a tie for 17th at 145 and Huntzinger tied for 62nd at 152.
Tennessee sits three strokes behind the Lions in second while the day one leaders, Louisville, sit six strokes behind.
Miller and Dornes trail Marshall's Clark Robinson who sits a top the leaderboard at 3-under.
The Lions will tee off beginning at 9 a.m. paired with members of Tennessee, Louisville and Eastern Kentucky's golf teams.
