ROSEMONT, Ill - Senior forward David Goodwin (St. Louis, Mo.) has been named the Big Ten Conference Third Star of the Week for his performance against Wisconsin this past weekend as announced by the league office earlier Tuesday morning.

After having his career-high and program-long 10-game point streak snapped on Friday night, the Captain tied his career-high with four points including two goals and two assists during a 6-0 victory on Saturday as part of Senior Night.

This is Goodwin's first weekly honor this season and the fifth of his career as he becomes the sixth different Nittany Lion to earn weekly accolades so far this season joining freshmen Denis Smirnov (Moscow, Russia), Nate Sucese (Fairport, N.Y.) and Peyton Jones (Langhorne, Pa.) along with sophomore classmates Chase Berger (St. Louis, Mo.) and Vince Pedrie (Rochester, Minn.). In total Penn State has had 12 weekly stars so far this season.

Goodwin's four points tied for second in the Big Ten over the weekend only behind the five of Ohio State's Mason Jobst who earned First Star laurels this week. The senior now has 125 points in his career to move into ninth in the entire country for career points.

Goodwin is currently the program leader in points (125) and assists (82) while his 43 goals is good for second only trailing the 45 of Casey Bailey.

The 11th-ranked Nittany Lions return to action this weekend as they travel to Ann Arbor to battle Michigan in the final regular season series of the year on Friday and Saturday evening at 7:35 p.m. each night.
