UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; April 20, 2017- The Penn State women's tennis team (5-14) will close out the regular season this weekend with two home matches against Purdue and Indiana. The Blue and White host Purdue tomorrow, April 20 for a 4:00p.m. ET matchup. The Nittany Lions conclude the regular season Sunday, April 23 at 11:00a.m. ET against Indiana. The seniors will be honored at Sunday's match.
"It will be a big weekend for us closing out the regular season at home with Purdue and Indiana," said head coach Chris Cagle. It will be the last time our seniors will be playing at home and we want to send them out the right way. We will come with energy and hope to have strong crowds out both days. The tennis level will be high so come out and support these seniors and the entire team this weekend."
Purdue (6-14) is coming off a 5-2 win over Wisconsin. They are currently 1-8 in the Big Ten. After taking on the Nittany Lions, Purdue will travel to Columbus to take on Ohio State to close out the regular portion of the season.
The Hoosiers (12-12) are coming off a 2-5 loss at home against Minnesota. Indiana sits at 3-6 in the Big Ten. Top leaders in singles are Caitlin Bernard (17-14), Madison Appel (15-11), and Pauline Jahren (15-13). The duo of Madison Appel/Kim Schmider (25-7) lead the team in doubles.
Friday's match will be the "Pink Zone" match. The team will be wearing pink attire for the match. There will be free pizza for all fans in attendance.
