UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.--The third and final day of competition at the UPenn Invitational has wrapped up, as the Nittany Lions finished their first tournament of the fall season.
Frederikke Svarre (Copenhagen, Denmark) won her first match of the day against Jaide Collins of Saint John's University, 6-1, 3-6, 10-3. She then fell to Gaby Rosales of Richmond 6-3, 6-7(6), 11-9. Hanna Wikberg (Stockholm, Sweden) fell to Alina Abdurakhimova of Temple 6-1, 6-4.
Liyin Xu (Chengdu, China) dropped to Adrienne Haynes of Richmond 7-5, 6-0. Hannah Kratky (Greenwich, Conn.) lost to Cecilia Castelli of Temple 6-0, 6-1.
"The tournament was a good barometer for us as we jump back into training this week," said assistant coach Mike Fenwick. "It was good to find areas that we need to continue to develop as we continue on throughout our season."
The Nittany Lions will be back in action next weekend from September 29 to October 1 at the UNCW Invitational.
