NITTANY LIONS CONTINUE ON THE ROAD AT TEMPLE
The Penn State men's soccer team will play its second-straight road contest when it travels to Temple for a 7 p.m. contest Wednesday, Sept. 27. Following its road contest, the Nittany Lions will return home for two conference matches at Jeffrey Field.

SERIES HISTORY WITH THE OWLS
Penn State holds the 39-20-8 all-time series advantage over the Owls, however Temple has earned two of its 20 wins in the past two meetings, including a 1-0 victory at Jeffrey Field in 2016. When traveling to Temple, the series history has been fairly even between the two squads with the Blue and White holding the slight 7-6-2 advantage over the Owls. In its most recent trip to Temple, Penn State suffered the 2-0 setback in the 2015 season.
SCOUTING TEMPLE
The Owls have earned two wins in the 2017 campaign, coming into the mid-week contest with the Nittany Lions with a 2-5-1 overall record and a 1-2-0 record at home. Temple will play its third-straight home match as it defeated Duquesne on Sept. 19 and fell to UCONN in its first conference match of the year.
Temple is being outscored 12-7 on the season but is outshooting its opponents 111-65 with 13.9 shots per game. Thibault Candia and Joonas Jokinen lead the Owls with two goals each in 2017, while Lukas Fernandes, Zach Brown and Mark Grasela have each had one goal.
Alex Cagle has started seven matches in net for Temple, while Michael Sammik has seen action in one match for the Owls. Cagle has made 12 saves and given up 10 goals for a 1.37 goals against average. In his one appearance Sammik allowed two goals to score and made two saves.
FINNEY CONTINUES TO KEEP NITTANY LIONS IN MATCHES
Senior goalkeeper Evan Finney allowed one goal against Wisconsin in the Nittany Lion's third Big Ten Conference match of the season but made five saves including two in the 83rd and 85th minute. In the 2017 season, Finney has made 29 saves to rank third in the Big Ten Conference, while his 3.60 saves per game tie for third in the league.
BRINGOLF LIFTS NITTANY LIONS TO NON-CONFERENCE WIN
Sophomore defender Mitchel Bringolf scored his first career goal against Detroit Mercy in Penn State's 2-0 victory.
Following a Nittany Lion corner kick in the 51st minute of the match, the ball bounced around inside the box before finding the foot of a striking Bringolf. The sophomore defender blasted the ball into the back of the net from only three yards out on a strike from the right side of the pitch. The goal marks the first points of Bringolf's career, although he has helped pitch seven shutouts being a part of the backline the past two seasons.
CURRAN GIVES PENN STATE FIRST MULTI-GOAL MATCH OF 2017
Junior Mac Curran not only netted his first goal since his freshman season but also gave the Nittany Lions their first multi-goal match of the 2017 season against Detroit Mercy. Curran gathered the ball at his feet off a Titan defender and ripped an one-touch shot from 18-yards out into the middle of the net to carry Penn State onto a 2-0 victory over Detroit Mercy. Curran now has three career goals donning the Blue and White.
BIG TEN TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD AT GRAND PARK
The Big Ten Men's Soccer Tournament will take place at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana, as announced by the Big Ten. The men's semifinals and championship game are set for Nov. 10 and 12. Last year, the Big Ten Men's Soccer Tournament semifinals and championship game were played at the facility for the first time, with Maryland earning a 2-1 victory over Wisconsin in the final.
